[Dixielandjazz] Duke's Band

Clark Terry made an interesting comment about Duke's "discordance" in
his interview done for the Smithsonian.  Clark said the band would
"drift off" and not pay attention on stage so Duke would hit those
discordant chords.  Then they'd sit up and look over and Duke would be
glaring at them saying "Wake Up!"  So who knows, maybe be-bop piano
playing got started because the Ellington band kept falling asleep on
stage.
