   I've watched a few of the current series and
have thought several of the singers were quite
talented at what they are trying to do. One of my
early favorites was bounced though. I think what
counts is more a stage presence and attitude than
pure music. They are looking for showmen, and, as
someone else said, someone who can reach a young
audience. If you have a really good voice, in
adiition, it helps. 
   Simon and Paula's schtick gets a little tiring
I must say, but that's the "comic" relief.
Actually there's a similar show on the country
music channel that is even better, and a bit
closer to the kind of music I enjoy more. You can
always pick up a few "professional" tips by
watching these things if you are still an amateur
like myself, IMHO. Some of you older folks
probably already know this stuff ... ;^)
