Gee whiz, regarding your first paragraph above, that's what I thought I
said. The only reference in my post about DJML was: "If the band is not a
working band, lead sheets or chord charts are probably necessary and perhaps
most bands on the DJML do not work too often."
That sentence speaks for itself. Restating the core: "perhaps most bands on
the DJML do not work too often", where is any assumption? Perhaps they do,
perhaps they don't. I'm open to either. How about a show of hands? :-) VBG
FYI, I worked 235 paying Dixieland gigs in 2005 plus 2 donated.
But while we're at it, why in hell aren't all you successful guys on the
DJML talking about your gigs and trying to help those who aren't working
much Dixieland but would like to? Those amateurs on the DJML are very
grateful for the advice they get about how to find gigs as well as grateful
for lead sheets. Just what the hell is wrong with providing help, through
EXAMPLES of what happens on, and how you get, REAL GIGS in the REAL WORLD?
How else to do that but talk about your gigs, your experiences, and how you
or the band did it?
Cheers,
Steve
