I knew I'd heard this on a clip on the Internet. And I just
found it again.
It's at Amazon.com, though there seems to be no new
copy of the CD available.
As to the clip......
It just BARELY gets
through the 2 measures in question. It's late so I've not picked up my
and played with it to see what the key is and what the notes and chord
in question are, but it sounds to be closer to the chart I have than are
the other renditions cited.
To hear the clip go to
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000001NPJ/ref=m_art_li_10/104-0870831-8720740?s=music&v=glance&n=5174
and select clip next to the title "Strange Blues"

Other info.
THe Mosaic records collection of Manone (also Mannone) and Prima
is a 6 cd collection at $96.
The reference to Strange blues in their discography lists the original
Brunswick record as
15151-A Strange Blues (WM, NL-vcl) Br 6911
(NL voc refers to vocal by Nappy Lamare)
TListening to the version by Bob Scobey;s Frisco JB I am
sure that the version played on Ray Smith's program is the
Scobey version. The lead in that plays more notes in the
measures in question than are in the chart that I have and
varies from that chart. Unfortunately the Anderson chart does
not indicate what record or other source the chart was
transcribed from.
THe Bobby Lewis version plays fewer notes in those measures and
doesn't follow that pattern of either the chart I have nor the Scobey
recording.
(Scoby did 2 recordings of it, one instrumental only, the other with
a vocal by Clancy Hayes.)
