Mr.Gunter - -Some clarification on your musical illiteracy: Actually
the word euphoniums comes from an an expression made by the teenage
daughter of the man who made the first one. Upon hearing the sound
produced by her inventor father Testy Testenhauffer, the daughter
exclaimed, " Eu ! ! Phoniums! Dad, Please - - -do that outside, will
you!" His second invention (always the student of cacacophony) was
the washboard, which he, to his dying
claimed was a musical instrument, but which no one else in the country
or abroad recognizes as such. He funeral procession was led by a
thousand kazoo players, all tuned to the same pitch (- -pine tree}, in
honor of the sap so over-looked in the annals of musical history. So
now you know the real story.
