Steve,

Yes, Mal Sharpe still plays with his "Big Money in Jazz" band at several
venues in the San Francisco area. I enjoyed hearing his July 4th show at
Yoshi's several years ago. His banjo player, Carl Lunsford, was my banjo
teacher. 

Mal also hosts a jazz program on KCSM (91.1 FM) 9 - 11pm on Sunday nights.
His humor is still sharp, and you can't guess where he's going with some of
his dialogues. I've also played a few times with him.
