The wildly popular Dixieland band that led last summer's parades at the
Nevada County Fair returns this year for two stage performances in addition
to providing their high-stepping parade music.

Dr. Bach and the Jazz Practitioners will perform at 1:30 and 3 p.m. on the
Pine Tree Stage the final day of the Fair. The band's concert version is
seven instruments and a vocalist.

Kelley now singing with Travis AFB Band of the Golden West, current female
vocalist Lynn Gehlbach, pianist Barbara Beland, tuba & upright bass player
Jerry Lopes, retired band pianist Gus Pearson, drummer Bruce Turley, drummer
Gene Copelan, Jim Elsaas vocals, banjo & guitar, trombonist Jay Paulus,
clarinet & sax player John Tanko, Charlie Gehlbach, trumpet and Fearless
Leader. Jim Elsaas will play banjo, guitar and provide vocals with Barbara
Beland on keyboard, Jerry Lopes on tuba and upright bass, Gene Copelan on
drums, Jay Paulus on trombone, John Tanko on clarinet and sax, Lynn Gehlbach
providing vocals, and band leader Charlie Gehlbach on trumpet.

Lynn Gehlbach is the daughter-in-law of band leader Charlie Gehlbach, a
retired physician. "She has a marvelous voice," Charlie says. "She was
trained in opera and musicals, but always wanted to sing jazz."

This year's Nevada County Fair starts Wednesday, August 9th and runs through
Sunday, August 13th.

On each of the Fair's five days a more mobile version of the Jazz
Practitioners will lead the 5 p.m. parade starting at the Special Events
tent just inside the main gate. Jerry Lopes will play tuba, Jay Paulus
trombone, Jim Elsaas banjo, and Charlie Gehlbach will lead on trumpet.

"The Auburn area band won instant approval when they began belting out their
infectious music last year," says Fair Manager Ed Scofield. "Their fans will
be glad to know that this year they can hear a whole lot more New Orleans
stompin' sounds from the Jazz Practitioners."

The band now has a second CD, "Jazz Therapy II - The Refill," which will be
available at the Fair. A dollar of the purchase price goes to Parkinson's
disease research.
