There is a counter-tenor whom I have heard perform in the St. Louis area a  
couple of times--outstanding voice.  This NPR site & interview is well  worth a 
listen.  A baritone-speaking voice with four octave  singing range disallowed 
to compete as a soprano by Texas Music Educators  Assoc.  Stay tuned on the 
sound clip for "The Lion Sleeps Tonight".
