[Dixielandjazz] Musical Jokes - Why History is Important.

Historical perspective in music is important.

Over time, ODJB's version of Livery Stable Blues has become "art" music to
audiences when it really originated as hokum. From the opposite perspective,
Mozart's Divertimento For Sextet, or K.522 is a serious work but sometimes
viewed as a joke, or much misunderstood among audiences.

"Musicians have even tried to 'stage' the work by trying to be comedic in
order to figure out how to present it so that the audience didn't think that
they didn't know how to play in tune!"
