KSDS, a PRI radio at San Diego State has a Sunday evening program "Jazz Roots".
The program has consisted of old Edison flats, circa 1900 to 1930 and 1940 78s. There are a lot of hisses and pops along with some skips, but the music is there.

I enjoy the program because of the obscure and virtual unknown forerunners of Jazz and the fact that it is the music not the "live guys against the dead guys syndrome". Every person has his likes and beliefs about OKOM. As a non-muso, I was weaned on the old 78s.They brought an education about a different form of music other than the one I was studying, classical violin, If JCJB plays an Oliver tune, I recognize the tune and enjoy the presentation, whether it is a copy or Jim's rendition.

My choices do not follow the other lists as I think that Pop's West End Blues , intro is spine chilling. and the stop time of JRM music, Red Hot Peppers, makes me want to jump.
