Lots of Dixieland in NYC these days. For a real treat visit the below web
site. Then Click on CHINA BOY. It is a video/sound bite of Polcer and
Jonathan, about 5 MB, at a NYC club. (Arthur's?)

Sound reproduction is so-so, but if you can get past that, the music is
absolutely astounding. Especially given the ages of Jonathan (10) and Polcer
(70?). They converse musically as if they were contemporaries. Listen
especially to the trading of 8's, 4's and 2's. The kid HAS MAJOR LEAGUE EARS
and does this sort of thing with whoever he plays, improvising on the spot.

If you are going to the Sacramento Jubilee, do not miss Jonathan Russell, a
New York Jazz Musician, in a rare West Coast appearance, thanks to the
untiring efforts of list mate Bob Ringwald.

Cheers,
Steve

BTW, want to feel old? Polcer played with Stan Rubin's group at Grace
Kelly's wedding to Prince Rainier, Monaco, 1956. As well as with the Benny
Goodman Sextet in the early 1970's.
