Hi Karen & List mates:

Forget Jay Wachter at Phillips in the inner harbor. Not really trad, but
strolling happy birthdays and commercial stuff.

Forget Last Chance in Columbia MD, not there any more.

However, buck-up, there is a lot of trad jazz in the Balto/DC area. Best
source is the Potomac River Jazz Club. Your friend should join. Only $25 a
year for this very active club.

Their website is: http://www.prjc.org/

Their newsletter publishes a monthly list of area gigs:

E.G.

Tuesdays: Federal Jazz Commission - Col. Brooks Tavern 901 Monroe St N.E.
          Wash DC 202-529-4002

Thursdays: Hal's Bayou JB - Louisiana Restaurant. 1708 Aliceanna ST Balto
           410-327-2610

Sundays: Mike Flaherty's Dixieland Direct featuring Hennig Hoehne. Market
         Inn, 200 E E St, SW, Wash DC 202-554-2100

Sundays: Brooks Tegler's Hot Jazz, Starland Cafe, 5125 MacArthur Blvd NY,
         Wash DC 202-244-9393

Lots more ETC. ETC.

PRJC also sponsors monthly Jazz Concerts. Mar 12 is their annual Jazz
Jubilee, Apr 15 features Last Chance JB, and June 9 features New Black Eagle
JB. They have a concert this month on January 21

Larry Eanet's Dixie Six 8-11 PM
Rockville Elks Lodge
Rockville, MD

Info call PRJC JAZZ HOTLINE at 703-698-PRJC.

Tell them PRJC Band Member; The Barbone Street Jazz Band sent you. Lots of
great jazz in that area including a jam session at the Calvert House Inn, 3
to 6 PM on Sun, Jan 22. 6211 Baltimore Ave, Riverdale MD. Info, call PRJC
Pres Audrey Van Dyke at 703-684-3522.

If your friend promises to go there, I'll drive down myself from Oxford PA
and jam a few numbers with the host band, Washington Conservatory Jazz Band.
I'll even front the $5 cover for her, to get a new PRJC member. :-) VBG.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone
