Maybe what this proves is the need for a good regional band
directory! Maybe one of the local traditional jazz societies sites
could encourage ALL current bands in the Northern California area to
submit band name, leader, regular members, location, contact info,
band web site, regular gigs, available recordings... stuff that
actually might be useful? Keeping this info up to date would be a
bit of a chore but inputs could be done with a simple web survey
form. What would it be worth for a band to have their name listed for
a year - $5? $50? Free?

I checked out http://www.americanrag.com/links.htm they only have 54
bands listed and they seem to be sorted by astrological birth sign
order.
http://mississippirag.com/ has a lot of links but no specific band
list and again, the sorting is very vague.

Maybe the DJML or Red Hot Jazz website could be the host for a
useful "master list" of OKOM bands from all over the world!
