Unless you're Sonny Rollins (but that's MKOM).

Tricky subject, that of "quotes". Some leaders hate and will not allow them
at all. Others seem to love them and encourage them. I'm like a member of
the audience who gets a charge out of one when I hear recognize the phrase
and appreciate how it was used. Over use, of course, tends to be obnoxious.

For some reason, hearing "quotes" in a jazz solo always tickles me.
Maybe it's an ego thing, I'm proud of my ear and memory, which are not
bad for a wannabe but neverwuz musician.
