Dear Jerry,
These are some non-quiz/trivia derived from Elise K. Kirk's book, "Music at the White House" (University of Illinois Press (1986), which I used in trying to solve Pee Wee's Presidential gig:

--Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag" was played by the Marine Band in 1915 at the request of Alice Roosevelt.

Pictures of:

-- President Warren Harding playing the sousaphone-he "played every instrument but the trombone and E-flat cornet."

--The Jazz Band [10 piece] from the Navy Yard Band, founded in 1919, [playing for] Harding's garden party in 1921.

--Duke Ellington ..at the [70th] birthday dinner given in his honor by President Nixon on April 29,1969."

--"Ninety-five-year old pianist Eubie Blake [playing] during a [1978] program honoring the [25th] Newport Jazz Festival" [for President Carter who also supplied the "salt peanuts" vocal breaks for Dizzy Gillespie's "Salt Peanuts"].

Cheers.

Fred
