So ASCAP can get a nickel a seat in royalties, plus 6% OF ALL THE
ADVERTISING REVENUE generated by the network for playing one of their
songs. :)) Not to mention that it sounds & looks ( thanks to
Television) like a much bigger song if you have a large audience
standing on their feet to hear it and then applauding after it is over
as if they really liked the song.
Greatest PR gimmick I have ever seen or heard. Talk about brilliant
simple ideas.
Ya want some respect for OKOM play that song as your closing number
every gig and you will walk out with a standing ovation.
not to mention get em all worked up to buy a CD.
Well it works here in AMURIKA, might not work so well on the other side
of the pond, and for God's Sake don't I repeat don't ever ever ever
play it if you are touring in England on the Bloody 4th of July. or
trust me not one bloke will buy you a pint and they may throw bangers
all slathered in Mustard at you and just ruin your favorite Hawaiian
shirt or standard Red vest. :)) As they yell Damn Yankee go home.
:))
I have never been to a soccer match in England ? what happens when
they have to play the Amurikan's team, do they play both National
anthems and start the fights or do they wait till the game is over and
play the anthem of the bloody winner of the match. :)) Damned shame
to waste all that good ale and beer throwing it back and forth across
the stands mates.
Cheers,
Tom

Taking a chance on being hit by all kinds of "unpatriotic" attacks,
I will
ask the obvious question:
Why is the National Anthem sung at sports events? Makes sense when many
countries are playing (ie; Olympics), but, otherwise.....?
(I still don't know the words, as I was always playing when it was
played!)
:>
Jim
