1,000 years is hugely ambitious, Mike. I'm not sure that humanity will 
last that much longer, let alone jazz. I'm also not sure I could name a 
musical tradition that goes back that far (Gregorian chants?, cantorial 
music?). I will be content to get the music to the next generation of 
listeners. After that, it's out of my hands, but then, it probably won't 
need me anymore by then, anyway. For a fuller expression of my thoughts 
on this, see my response to Butch Thompson's response to my comment.

I'm glad that there will be at least you and me for  a while longer, though.
