[Dixielandjazz] Gene Kupa's Band

Watching TCM tonight, an old movie, "Ball of Fire" was  on. In it Barbara 
Stanwyck sang "Dram Bogie" with Gene Kupa's  band. 1941. There was a young back 
trumpet player with the band. He played  one solo. I noticed in the next take, 
after the tune, where Kupa is playing  a match box, the man was not sitting in 
the trumpet section. Anyway, does  anyone know who this man is/was? Did Kupa 
have any black musician's in his  band?
