[Dixielandjazz] Spreading the word. or NOT

Not pointing fingers at my Buddy Bob Ringwald here, but this is
exactly what my last ranting long post is all about folks:

Lack of PR, promotion and communication is what has caused most of the
problems that OKOM is and has been experiencing for many many years.
And in todays' world of easy communication most excuses simply do not
wash. Anyone who wants to compete in the business world in any field
needs to stay informed about who and what is going on Nationwide, not
only locally where even the locals don't know everybody.

Why did nobody inform Bob and all other Societies in the West that
Kenny was nearby? and even if they did not ( including Kenny) in
today's world one can buy coast to coast airline tickets for about the
same money as a paid engagement salary of a sideman.

I am of course speaking of real gigs that pay decent money, which
unfortunately many OKOM musicians have not seen for many years because
they tend to accept the status quo and what they are offered.

The Trad. Societies need to get out of the our little club and who and
what WE LIKE and work with each other to advance and expand the market
for all artists. Just like Judy and Woody, if you don't like an act
or player you can get up and walk out, usually to the next room and
hear somebody else that you do like. :))

Cheers,

Tom Wiggins

I book the talent for the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society's monthly
Jazz
Sunday concerts. Believe me, if I had known that Kenny was in NM, I
would
have hired him.

He has been a guest star here in the past, but not recently.

I had no idea he was close by.
