[Dixielandjazz] Artie Shaw & Claude Thornhill Bands in New Zealand during the war yrs

Hello knowledgeable list friends,

A man in New Zealand is doing a book on Artie Shaw Navy Band & Claude 
Thornhill Navy Band, when they came to New Zealand & Australia, in the 
1940's.

Anyone on this great list know about these bands playing in the Pacific? 
In the  few books I have read on the war years there is little of any 
valuable information about people that may of heard or met these 
musicians while here.
