Re: Do they Play Jazz in Heaven?

Rush Otey, a hip Presbyterian minister, formerly in Pensacola, currently in
Charlotte, NC responds. ( Rush has been on vacation, but now back at work,
refreshed, we hope)

Bill Gunter, washboardist and vocalist par excellence with California
vintage jazz and comedy group, Boondockers, responded with a quote from Mark
Twain--- Heaven for the climate and Hell for the Society.

Thanks, All.

Norm

Chris could be right, but as a minister I hope he is not! If Duke
Ellington, Satchmo, Dave Brubeck, Coltrane, and even Norman Vickers et. al.
are not in Heaven it won't be such "Love Supreme" or a "Wonderful World"
after all. By the way, (assuming it survived Katrina) at St. Joseph's Abbey
near Covington, Louisiana, there is/was a wonderful painting on the ceiling
of the refectory with the angels playing trombones, drums, clarinets, and
dancing etc. as if Preservation Hall has been elevated to the maximum. Maybe
the monks there got it right! We'll see . . .(Psalm 150) Rush Otey

Chris Saunders, New Orleans and Pensacola jazz pianist, sent this. In case
you're not on that distribution list!

Do They Play Jazz in Heaven?

well, they call it jazz, but it's really just kenny g playing along with old
spyro gyra albums. the good jazz will be in hell where, of course, all the
musicians, club owners, booking agents, promoters, critics, and all the
other entertainment industry souls go.
