called an RFC, which means Request For Comment. These are issued by
standards organization, the debated freely by the community and finally
become standard practice.
The RFC for email calls for URLs in messages to be marked like this:
<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8UcR1jGDD4> with angle brackets, just
as you often see in email addresses. If you put them in this way, most
email programs can cope with line-wrapping and still recover the
complete URL. Even AOL.

(the two dashes followed by a space followed by the
