[Dixielandjazz] Jazz competition

Ron L'Herault writes of the International Championship of Jazz in
Indianapolis:

"Max Collie won over the New Black Eagles so we
 Eagles fans knew it had to be fixed."

Butch added :

"Well, Max also beat Wild Bill Davison and Preston Jackson.  But that's
another story"

A long time ago a number of British musos toId me that Max not only
organised this "competition" but was one of the judges too. Granted it was
hearsay but the story had the ring of truth about it.
