According to Brian Wood's book "The Song For Me - a glossary of New Orleans
musicians" - he was born in 1859 - unknown date of death. Probably the first
black recording artist. He was recorded by the Louisiana Phonograph Company
in 1891 and cylinders were marketed locally. Vasnier disappeared from the
census in 1897 the year of the yellow fever epidemic.

My quest is a genealogical quest.
