Sad about stations giving up jazz programming.

Happened here in Philly several years ago . . . almost. Temple University's
public radio station WRTI 90.1 FM used to be a 24 hour jazz program. Then
the switched to 12 hours jazz, 6 PM to 6 AM and 12 hours classical during
the day, because Philly's only classical station became a talk station.

Many complaints . . . result?

Still half and half on regular FM radios but if you have an High Definition
(HD) radio, you can now get Jazz on 90.1 24/7. They bought a HD broadcasting
system which enables them to broadcast 2 separate programs on one frequency.

You have two channels on 90.1 now. One broadcasts classical and one
broadcasts jazz 24/7. So you can choose great music either way by throwing
the switch on your HD radio.

Clever, these Temple University folks and public radio.

Cheers,
