Hi All,
Buy a Canon printer and "printable' CDs (marginally dearer than the basic
blank)  You drop them in a slot in the front of the printer and voila! A
label that looks like a "bought" one. Low end price for the printer in
Australia about $150

One benefit that lightscribe labels have over stick-on
labels is that they won't get stuck in some CD players
like a stick-on label will. But I agree, they are slow
at printing and also lightscribe only works in 
monochrome text and graphics.
