What a good post - many thanks.
The only thing I can add is to say that the transfer of a mono record in
stereo has advantages with mono LPs also. I find that, with old LPs, the RH
signal is usually cleaner than the LH. This is probably due to the fact
that most tonearms in the mono days didn't have anti-skating correction and
the inner wall of the groove wore more than the outer.
