[Dixielandjazz] TEAC final word

I've abandoned my efforts to obtain the TEAC vinyl-to-CD burner, it is not
available in the UK and the German TEAC website does not mention it at all -
obviously I was not meant to have one. I could not find any models of other
brands with similar features.

My objective was to provide the means of converting all my vinyl recordings
to CD format. Since upgrading my hifi rig last year I have been without a
turntable and the TEAC machine seemed to be the ideal way to go. Instead I
have just ordered a stand-alone turntable with a built-in preamp - Sony
PS-LX250H Automatic - which I shall connect to my PC, run the music through
either CoolEdit or Audacity, convert the files to WAV then burn the CDs. It
is a much more labour-intensive way to go but it seems to be my only
alternative.

The Sony turntable (which cost around 70 pounds from Amazon) had some
encouraging reviews, plays 33 and 45 rpm but not 78, however that does not
bother me too much as I am not a 78 collector. It will be good to listen to
some of my LPs again.
