Thanks for the link Norman. It is a truly wonderful article about a jazz
musician/composer/entertainer who is often under rated.

BTW, Teachout was a bass player who while living in Kansas City, 1975-83,
free lanced as a jazz musician and worked as a music critic for the KC Star.
He now also writes for the NY Times in addition to the WSJ.

The book fellow Mencken skeptic Norman Vickers refers to is:
"The Skeptic: A life of H.L. Mencken." Harper Collins. About $30 and if you
dig H.L. Mencken, this book is a must read.
