Dear Hal and friends,
Just to add to the subject.
The following explanation comes from 'The Cassell Dictionary of Slang'
(1998. Jonathon Green):
Big Easy, the n. [1970s+] (US) New Orleans, Louisiana. [?coined by Conaway
as the title of his novel 'The Big Easy', later a popular film (1986);
presumably f. the stereotype of its free-and-easy lifestyle]
Kind regards,
Bill.
