Saw a fantastic concert last night which included the Bill Allred Classic Jazz band among others, so I figured this would be of interest to list members. It was a "benefit" concert but was as good as any I've ever seen.
The concert which was organized by Benoit Glazer, musical director of Cirque du Soleil in Orlando, was originally organized on behalf of Terry Warburton & Warburton Music who I imagine many of the brass players on here know as a superb maker of brass instrument mouthpieces. A short time ago, his facility in Oviedo, FL burned to the ground, apparently the result of some bad wiring in an a/c unit. His friend, right-hand man and head technician, Ken Titmus was living in the house where the facility was housed and escaped with his slippers, his horn and his life, luckily awoken by a smoke detector. If you had seen Terry's shop, it was really something. Out in the boonies, it looked sort of like an old mooshiner's place - chickens, dogs, etc. The only thing missing was a kid on the porch playing a banjo. you'd never guess he had a high-tech machining operation running there with CNC machines, etc.
However, because of the subsequent hurricane, at Terry's insistence, 20% of the money raised at the event will be donated to hurricane relief.
Terry is accepting orders for mouthpieces but you'll have to wait a bit. However, it appears they are on the road to being back in business very soon. He's accepting direct donations as well, but wants them limited to $50.

The list of bands who participated:

Bill's world-renowned band of Superstars
ELEMENTS OF BRASS
Various musicians, many of whom perform at Disney World.

This was a super concert and the participating musicians all donated their time. They had so many groups who offered to participate they had to turn people down. The concert was over 2 hours as it was and every bit of it was excellent.
