I just received this email concerning the Danish company Storyville. This may be an opportunity to pick up a recording or book which may be going out of print.

Dear all
As many of you will know, the Storyville company in Denmark has recently been bought by that country's leading music publisher, Hansen, which however is part of the international Music Sales group.
Quite incidentally (through being commissioned in June to write a liner-note by a Storyville employee who, as of the end of August, is no longer a full-time employee but hopes to free-lance for them), I just learned some disturbing news of their book output. Namely, that 4 tonnes of it is being (or has already been?) junked, because there was no room for it in their premises and that it was refused space in the group distribution centre in the U.K. As a result, a few copies only of a few titles have been retained at the company's new address (Esplanaden 8 D - DK-1263 Copenhagen K).
I don't have a list of the books that were covered by this policy edict (try www.storyville-records.com), but it obviously includes the Stratemann book and Jazz Records Vol.6 by Ole Nielsen. It seems that anyone wanting any of their existing publications better move extremely fast to try and order them, either from Storyville or from retailers, before they go permanently out of print.
Brian
