Hey ya'll! Dan can play in my band anytime! He's a great tuba player! When
we played one of our most requested tunes, the famous Mexican march and the
favorite march of the bandit Pancho Villa, ZACATECAS...the building shook
with those two powerful bass horns back there...both of them huge recording
tubas! You had to be there...
Banjoists Kurt Abell and Dave Frey were there also, and played a beautiful
and touching tribute to a very fine banjo player who had just passed
away...Larry Kennedy, who lost a ten year battle with cancer on October 17.
He was in their trio, "The Three Plectrums"...very sad! Larry had frequently
played in Cell Block 7, and was a very talented musician and a fine
gentleman...SO SAD!!
Larry's memorial service will be at 2 pm, Saturday, November 12, at the Oak
Avenue Methodist Church, 8790 Oak Avenue,
Orangevale, California.
Yes, and The Lodi Beer Company was filled to capacity, and people were
having to be turned away because of no more tables! I think it must have
been because I emailed all of our "followers", (all 6 of them!), and told
them Dan Augustine would be visiting! BTW! He added three more names to his
list of beers and ales he's recycled through his kidneys since 1982~he does
keep a list... 1000 plus!
Warm regards,
Bob Romans,
