Sitting in can give us a chance to play with different styles and groups.
For the last 3 years I have a standing invite to join a guitarist at a beach
bar when we visit the British Virgin Islands. He does Jimmy Buffet, Beatles,
Eric Clapton and the standard rock stuff which goes down well with the rum
punch and cold beer crowd.

I always play what he calls and only suggest if he asks and it sure is
different from my usual playing. We get along fine, especially since he
started a set by saying, "Here's a blues I wrote. You'll like it. It's got
some nice leads in there for you and you'll pick them up. It's in E . . . 1
.. 2... 3... 4 ......Yikes!!! E on a clarinet?!!! My wife said I played
very well and I said it was because I had to concentrate so much :-)

Nothing like playing in 6 sharps to get your attention.
