Any help would be appreciated - Brian Harvey

The four freshmen issued LPs in the 50s called four freshmen and five saxes, four freshmen and five guitars. These have been reissued on CD but the sleeve notes are illegible.

Who were the saxes/guitars?"]

Yes, it is a very poor reproduction of the original sleeve.

As far as the saxes are concerned, using my super grey-power magnifying glass, I think they are:

George Auld
Bob Cooper
Scoots Harford
Ted Nash
Dave Pell
Wilbur Schwartz
Bud Shank

What a sax section and very typical of those West Coast studios, especially with Pete Rugulo involved with many of the arrangements!

I don't think the Five Guitars are listed and I don't much care who they were because it was not the best of those "FF & 5?" LPs.

Hey, I may be biased but give me "The Four Freshmen and 5 Trombones" any day! Frank Rosolino, Harry Betts Jnr., Milt Bernhart, Tommy Pedersen and George Roberts. WOW!

Let's here it for the ex Stan Kenton Orchestra alumni!

Best,

Grah
