Regarding Chuck Hedges' situation:

I talked to Chuck this afternoon (11/12) and he is very upbeat about his
situation.
His doctors feel they caught it early enough to perform surgery, and
that he has a very good chance.  Besides, as Chuck put it, his surgeon
is a Jazz Fan.

Chuck's attitude is optimistic.  They'll be operating next Wednesday,
and thereafter will have a long recovery period of about 8 weeks.

I know all of you will be pulling for this great clarinetist and
wonderful musical personality, and I'm sure he'll appreciate hearing
from you.
