[Dixielandjazz] Thoughts on LP Needles

I started keeping a level near my turntables once I realised, purely by visual surveillance one day, just how off-balance the average turntable, machine, stereo cabinet, etc, actually is. It's like playing your records in an alternate reality, the angles we sometimes force our tonearms to either climb or plummet into!
Of course, all the very well-put concerns Mr Pulliam put forward (and thanks for them!) apply to those who "listen" to records. Those of us who have turntable equipment purely for archiving purposes (the "listening," per se, only occurs once transferred to CD) needn't be TOO concerned.
But the level consideration is very definitely fixable. How do I do it? In my extremely unfancy living environment, old receipts bunched up into various thicknesses under table legs do wonderfully!,
