I play with a few guitar players, I do a few duo jobs with a fine guitar player who refuses to use a tuner as he says his ear does a better job, he has tried them and just does not like them and there is nothing wrong with his tuning.

Just for the sake of interest his father taught him and his brother to play guitar, he was an old UK dance band musician and he started his lads on bar chords, never taught them an open chord.

Does anybody have any experience of this?

Is this normal or common with (some) guitar teachers?

Any other comments?
