[Dixielandjazz] Bobby Short R.I.P.

Sad news- Caberet artist Bobby Short died of Luekemia this week at age 
80. Long time favorite at New York's Carlyle Hotel, he held a 35 year 
run there.
Short kept eh Great maerican Song Book alive and well attended even into 
a day of Rap and Rock, and was noted for his piano and vocals attention 
to Gershwin, Prter, Arlen, Carmichael, Berlin and the other great 
songsmihts.
Had a chance to meet the man several times on both coasts, and he was 
always enertaining, enthusiastic about his material and a legend among 
the dwindling number of caberet artists left. He and his music will be 
missed.
