Back in 1958 Turk Murphy would feature the Beat "poet" Lord Buckley at Easy Street in San Francisco. A sample is to be found on the CD "Turk Murphy Jazz Band--Wild Man Blues" (San Francisco Traditional Jazz Foundation SFTJF CD 107). Lord Buckley (Richard Myrle Buckley) recites "The Hip Shooting of Dan McGrew" backed by the band playing "Redwing" and "The Hip Mahatma" backed by "Mecca Flat Blues." Fun stuff, if a little dated.

Little known fact: RAP begins with a silent "C"
