One of the most violent earthquakes in the U.S occured close to the Mississippi River in the early 1800s
 
Re-routed the Big Mississippi several miles in places.
 
Wasn't in California where we have no Tornado Season or Hurricane Season, Ice storms and thousands out of power every winter No lake effect storms that cripple towns and cities for days. No forecasters of Earthquakes on the TV warning people to stock up on survival items
