Dear Hal,
I have just played that LP - 'Dixieland At Carnrgie Hall", and can confirm
that Jimmy McPartland (in his intro to track 9) does indeed pronounce Zutty
Singleton's name (twice) as 'Zoo-tee'.
To say: Like the "oo" in "book" could be confusing, particularly in England
and Scotland.
And in areas of New Zealand 'book' is pronounced 'buck'.
