Greetings, DJMLers. In the recent spirit of increased posting to the list, I thought I'd take this opportunity to post and share some bad news. Our trad jazz band recently lost its steady Sunday AND steady Monday night gigs. April may have been "National Jazz Appreciation Month" but we didn't feel it as we lost both gigs the same weekend that month.

This is the first time in almost six years the Creole Band has not had a steady gig. We do have a few other performances lined up but we were really enjoyng a couple of "paid practice sessions" every week. Beginning this week, we plan to search for our next "home base". I'll keep you posted.

We are taking this opportunity of "a brief time off from steady work" to RENAME the band. We wanted to drop the "Dixieland" from the name but still maintain a reflection of what type of music we play, all without radically changing the name of the group. So, in the vain of "The NEW Red Onion Jazz Babies", "The NEW Black Eagle Jazz Band" and other current bands that begining with "The NEW...", The Creole Dixieland Jazz Band is now "The New Creole Jazz Band". No, none of us are Creole and, no, we're not as good as King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band or Kid Ory's Creole Jazz Band and, no, we're not a tribute band, we just like the name. :-)

Also, for the benefit of those on the list who care and/or need to know, I have recently moved and am posting my new contact information:
