I go from the earphone to either an auxillary of the amplifier and then to
the line-in of the computer sound card. You may go straight to the line-in
if you are sure the levels are high enough. I use Wavelab for this but you
can use Soundforge, Cooledit or any program that will do the job. I prefer
to have the sound file go straight to .WAV type files for the audio editing.
Once you have the music in the computer (as a .WAV file) you can edit to
your heart's (and editing program) content.
Normalise (a term that is used in musical editing) to about -1 (minus one)
db. This will bring the loudness of the signal to a regular level.
You then copy the files to CD as CD files (16bit 44.1kHz) using whatever
program you use.
