Dear Luis - and Luis,
The query regarding the lyrics to "New Orleans Stomp" has been solved.
This morning I re-listened to the Mr. Jelly's Jam Band mp3 clip you sent and
established that it IS the same (but much slower) tune as the Oliver and
Dodds' versions.
I then rang my banjo-playing friend Geoff Holden who lives a few hours north
of me.
He has a Louis' All Stars CD with "New Orleans Stomp", recorded in Sept/Oct
1959 for Audio Fidelity (the Peanuts Hucko session) which I said that have
never heard. He gave me the CD details and described the cover.
Guess what? I have it!!!
An English Pickwick CD. Playing it now.
How embarrassing for me!
It is definitely the source for the vocal and is similar to your mp3.
I will transcribe the lyrics for you sometime over the weekend, after I
complete several other outstanding things.
An interesting exercise all round.
Kind regards,
Bill.
