Surprisingly, many have been cleaned up and found to be quite good. I have a CD of the Ellington recordings on the Musicraft label and it sounds pretty good.

I don't know if there is any connection with "Cheapo Marx",but i seem to remember that the quality of Musicraft was pretty bad(surface,sound etc.) compared to all the other labels of the time.I'm thinking of the Meltones especially ,which I have not heard in over 50 years......al singer
