Dear Bob,
I have been through all my Billie Holiday song listings.
Nothing there that remotely suggests "Sophisticated Monkey".
It must be a line in a  song which 'sounds like'.
As in the story of the customer asking the band to play that well known song
"Harper's Date".
No one in the group had a clue, so they asked him to sing a bit of it.
Disappointed, he said "But all jazz bands play it. It goes 'I'll be down to
get you in a taxi honey, you better be there by Harper's Date' ".
More clues are required from your singer friend.
