Bill,

I agree.

The Synclavier mentioned in the article I quoted actually used sampled 
sounds of  "real" instruments as well as synthesized sounds - it was 
more the "faking" actions of the musicians - pretending to play their 
instruments with no actual sounds coming out of them that I was linking 
to.
