It was a bit of a mess. On Mr. Schnyder's end of the transaction, the piece
seemed to wander among various jazz or symphonic jazz styles, from 1950's
Bernstein to 1920's Gershwin, with blues and big band references wafting
through along the way. Still, in a tight, polished performance, even a work
this stylistically diffuse might have made a strong effect. But Orpheus's
performance was uneven. Some of the players - the clarinetists, most notably
- clearly had a feeling for what Mr. Schnyder was after, and their solo
lines sang nicely. But the ensemble as a whole was too leaden to match them.

If the Symphonies would all start presenting some Blues they would quickly
sell out all those empty seats that they can't seem to give away. Just like
the major Jazz Festivals do when they hire Big Name Blues Acts on their
Festivals to sell the tickets.

I can see the Harley's lined up alongside the Rolls and Bentleys now not to
mention the greater diversity of Hand made Beers at the concession stands
during intermission, Hell they will probably relax the no drinks in the theater
policy too, ( except for the pocket Flasks of course).

Gonna be Hell to see however when half those Symphony patrons start getting
turned on to Crank and White Port and Lemon juice cocktails.

I will present the First one in California:
We gonna putta soma respecta inna da show anna provea dat itsa sofisticateda
produckshun.

The Po leese department will provide a Tazer Electrik Light show.
Headliner will be :

Metropolitan Blues Buster Fillharmonik Arkestra
witha virtuoso Harmonica sucker Blind James Elmo Jackson- Lincoln,
guest conductor
Le'Roi Von Bubba Johnson - Washington III

opening act willa be the
Harley Davis & the Jazz syncopaters of the Waffel House Bar and Grill Saloon

Which will host the pre -concert beer drinking contest and post concert
distance pissing competition. Last year it was won by Betty Sue Von
ShlitinFacer, who also kick started her own Harley. She was a site to see for the gala
society pages in the newspaper the next day as well. Dressed in lace taffeta
fringed crotchless levis and multi strands of Mardi Gras Beads and cute little
Purple and green kipa. Her long Blonde hair flying in the wind as she roared
off into the night on her chopper, brought about immediate images of a modern
day Lady Godiva, which will be the theme for the next concert.

Tickets on sale now .

:))

Cheers,

Sir Thomas Bennington-Wolfstein von Flopperstopper IV
