Dear John,
The pianist who ghosted the fictional character Danny Boodmann T.D. Lemon
Nineteen Hundred (played by Tim Roth) in the 1999 Italian film, 'The Legend
of 1900', was Gilda Butta, a well known Italian classical musician and
performer, who has several major film soundtrack recordings (including 'The
Mission') to her credit.
No biography. Sorry.
What you did not mention was that the film includes the tale of a duel
where 1900 wins a piano contest with Jelly Roll Morton (played by Clarence
Williams III).
In the film the Morton character plays "Jungle Blues", "Big Foot Ham", "The
Crave" and "Finger Buster".
JRM records were used, although I have not checked the original recording
sources for each.
Kind regards,
Bill.
